Camping at Mineral Wells

Every year we go camping twice a year, May and October. this year we knew it would be a challenge since we had Jenna and she is still young. Had to get out of our comfort zone and try anyway. The first night it got super cold and was horrible. we usually stay in our tent but felt we needed more room and stayed in a screen shelter. that was our first mistake. We had no way to close off ourselves from the wind. I was tempted to to leave in the middle of the night when Jenna woke up to eat. She was cold and ended up staying up for almost 2 hours which she never does at home. We finally fell back to sleep and got another hour or two of sleep. During the day it wasn't so bad. Parker still had a blast. When you are surrounded by dirt how can you be a boy and not have fun. Blake probably had more fun that me since he got to go do all the fun stuff with Parker while I stayed with Jenna.

 

the boys went fishing or attempted to fish. We saw Deer tracks and actually saw them. we got pretty close to them a few times. The boys saw an armadillo and parker will tell you he saw cactus spiders. We saw lots of robins and other birds, parker enjoyed looking for them. Mineral wells has a rock climbing area, and the boys and Deanna got to go explore that area while Karen and I hung out at the campsite. We roasted marshmallows . When Blake told parker that we were going to he said " yeah, daddy I like marshmallows and you like marshmallows, and mommy just like bread and sandwiches"...he cracks me up! We think he said that because I have to be careful on what I eat since Jenna can't have dairy!

eating is our absolute favorite thing to do while we camp. Food and outdoors are the perfect pair. Why does food taste so much better when your camping?!

We ended up leaving a day earlier than planned since Jenna wasn't sleeping as good as she does at home and everyone's allergies were going crazy. We did everything we wanted to do in 2 days so we were ok with leaving. We still had a great time, and anytime we are with our two favorite aunts we have a great time anyway!
