Field Training Day One

Blake had his first day of field training last Saturday, February 25,2012.

His schedule for the first month he works Wednesday-Saturday 5:30 am- 3:30 pm. It's nice because hes home at night for dinner and to see Parker. It is really weird having him home during the day on Monday and Tuesday though. Its only a month and I am sure that once I get use to it his schedule will change.

Day one, he said that it was really slow. He told me that his FTO is kind of laid back, so lazy! The first 30-45 minutes they didn't do anything. Of course one of the first things his FTO had to do was go get him some coffee. That's one nice perk to being a cop you get free fountain drinks and coffee. To bad Blake isn't a coffee drinker!

He said that they responded to a few calls the whole day. One was a "hit and run" it ended up not being a hit and run. When they got to the call the guy said something hit his car while he was driving on the highway and dented it. He wasn't even sure who's car it flew out of so they pretty much couldn't do anything.

The got a call for a runaway. The boy was 14 years old and when they got there he was just sitting at the end of the street, so they picked him up, took him home, and lectured him and his parents.

I don't remember the other "exciting" calls...ha ha.

He did text me and tell me they were washing the squad car, talk about getting paid to do nothing!
That will change when he is on evening and nights. ( I am not ready for that)

16 months

Parker keeps growing, growing, and growing! He has two more months until he hits the Halfway mark...and Nursery at church!

We have had some pretty awesome weather this month, and spend most of our days outdoors. Parker loves being outside even if it's cold. I don't know how he does it, or how we did it when we were young.

Parker and his buddy Wyatt. we see Wyatt and Mrs. Kristin about 3 times a week, so the boys will just have to accept that they will be good friends!

He has started eating by himself with a spoon and a fork! He is doing so well, I am so proud of him. Every day he does something new that just blows me away. He is starting to talk more and more everyday but his fine motor skills are developing more quickly! He does sign a lot more for me to. I couldn't be happier with his progress either way, he is doing things on his own time! 

I recently just started writing down what he can say so here are a few...What is that, read it, ball, car,clock, momma, Dada, up, bubble, no, bye, and outside. Of course they don't sound perfect but he is saying them.

He can sign..more, eat/hungry, milk, please, thank you, all done, drink, poop (when I say did you poop), bath, book, fish, butterfly, caterpillar, diaper ( when I say do you need a new diaper), up, and down, and sometimes hurt.

He also just started folding his arms for his prayers, well I finally decided to try and he could so I guess I should have tried that sooner. He is so cute. When we sit down for dinner and just folds his arms, what a big boy! It's so sweet to see him show love for his Heavenly Father.

Tooth number 7 has made its appearance, and I think hes working on a few more.

He loves working out with us. Well maybe just trying to copy us or sit on us while we do sit ups! Try doing sits ups with a kid on your belly its hard.

I almost forgot he runs to his room when I say lets go change your diaper and lets go get dressed, and are you ready to go bed. He goes back there but sometimes realizes he doesn't really want what he ran back there for. Hes so funny!

OK enough bragging about my kid! :)

GRADUATION WEEK IS FINALLY HERE!!

Blake's final week  was last week!

 On Monday they studied all morning long and received their uniforms with all their badges and more equipment. Tuesday he had his TCLEOSE (peace officer licencing test aka state test). He scored 88% and and the highest score on the test was 90.He did great! Wednesday he had to wake up early and go for a run with Chief Halstead. They ran to the Police memorial and he spoke with them for about 20 minutes. He spoke to them about FAMILY,FAITH, AND FUTURE. He encourages them all to stay close to their family and stay strong in their faith, and they are the future. He gave a great talk at their graduation, and I am really glad he said the positive things he said especially since there is so much negative. Thursday they practiced for graduation day and received more equipment to bring home. Our home is small and we are comfy but now that Blake has so much stuff for his new career we need another room just for everything.

 FRIDAY!!! As of 11:30 he was officially a police officer! His graduation was only 1.5 hours, better than three the told us about! The chief really talked them up and seemed so proud of class 129 accomplishment They all deserved to be talked up! Great job guys.

The past 7 months have been a huge challenge not only for Blake but for our family We overcame all our trials and Blake did absolutely wonderful! I am so proud of him. My heart is full right now with Love, appreciation, and pride. I am honored to be his wife and a mother to his children. He is truly amazing! Over the past 7 months he has had to handle a great deal of stress, from workouts, testing and from everyday life. He handled it well and will make a great officer. As we enter this new phase of our life journey I know it wont be an easy transition, but I have faith in Blake and in our Heavenly Father to keep him and us safe. Great job and we love you.

officer survival

January 29-Feb 3,2012 Blake worked 2-12 for officer survival. The whole week was pretty much active shooter scenarios, building searches, and a few officer down rescue scenarios to. The school was run by the swat team. They carried guns loaded with simmunition rounds (bullets filled with paint).

Many of the scenarios they were being shot at but every now and then they threw out a regular call. One scenario Blake said he pulled someone over and he got out of the car to go up to their window and they jumped out of the car and just started shooting at him with a rifle. Then one call it was a call where he didn't have to do anything. They tried to make this week a worse case scenario type deal but they also had to throw them off with a regular call just to show them  different level calls. they could have a really high call out on the streets and then the next could be nothing serious and they need to be able to calm themselves.

Blake managed up until Friday night not to get shot. He did very well and was pleased with how well he did. He even said it was one of the best weeks of his life, but I don't that was because of how he did just that week but how he did over the past 7 months. This week was the make it or break it week, and he past! way to go Blake!
