Do the potty dance..

This week has been a good week for potty training. It's been about a month since I started potty training Parker and it is finally starting to click. He pretty much only wears diapers if we go out or if he is sleeping. He runs around naked most of the time or in big boy underwear. He still has accidents in his big boy underwear, so we are still working on that. We are also still practicing pulling up and down his underwear/pants. He still needs practice but he's doing great!

This week he has ran over to the potty and has gone pee pee everyday on his own. I still remind him if it's been awhile, or I see him start to get fidgety. He usually only goes poop if I can tell he needs to go and take him to hide behind the shower curtain. Today we were at the park and he had to go and he told me he needed to go but I didn't have the potty and the bathroom was to far away. My fault. Once he pooped he wouldn't sit down in his stroller. I took that as a good sign, since he knows he doesn't like to sit in poop. Later this afternoon he ran over to the potty and  went poo poo in the potty! all by himself! I was so excited! he turned my crappy day into a great day!

Blake's beat has been quiet, to bad we can't say the same for the rest of fort worth.

Highlight of the month: Blake's sister Rachel was at a stop light on Western Center and saw Blake arresting a bum. She was pretty excited to see her big brother in action! The guy was loitering and had a local warrant, he usually doesn't arrest for that but the guy was being a big jerk. Blake said had he of treated him with some respect he would have never arrested him.

They got to surround a house and talk over the pa system. A guy called the cops because they saw someone go into their neighbors house and knew they were out of tow. When the cops got there, the people did open the door. The cops could hear them whispering and moving things around. They surrounded the house and called over the speaker "we have the house surrounded, come out with your hands up". One guy finally came out, then another, and another...There ended up being 7 guys in the house. One was the grandson of the home owner who was just there throwing a small party with his friends. One guy was 23 and bought the booze and a few had warrants. Most got tickets and a few went to jail. Things would have gone differently if they would have just opened the door.

The hot dog stand at home depot on basswood and 35 got robbed yesterday. The lady had just put all the money in a black bank bag and some guy walked out of home depot and asked for a hot dog. She had the bad under arm while she made the hot dog and he grabbed it and took off through the parking lot and jumped the fence to some apartments near by. They never found him, he got away with about 300 dollars.

Blake didn't take this call but there was a homicide on 820 near 35. Three people were driving in the same car, and the two guys were arguing over something. They pulled over onto the construction site and continued fighting and one guy pulled out a gun and shot his friend. The guy who got shot has his wife with him, so she saw the whole thing. The guy who shot his friend didn't run or anything, he just sat down and waited for cops to get there. People are crazy, you can't even trust your own friends.

21 months

Parker is now 21 months old going on 20! He is so much fun, and such a handful! He loves running, climbing, jumping, drawing, and getting dirty. This little guy loves life, and loves to give me mild heart attacks. He has also become a huge fan of the TV, but I limit that. He still loves to read but this month he hasn't been as into it as he usually is, nice change of pace but kinda sad too.

Cops can and will lie...

Blake finally came home with some good stories, and now I can share!

Road rage...A girl called cops because she got pulled out of her car and beat up. She told the cops that she had cut a girl off while driving, and the girl got really mad and was swerving  behind her, doing the whole road rage scene. Eventually the girl got off the highway and came to a stop sign. The girl she cut off followed her off the highway and pulled out in front of her so she couldn't drive forward, got out of her car and opened the car door and pulled the girl out. The road rage girl had her boyfriend with her and instead of helping he assisted. He grabbed the girl who was getting beat up and pulled her away, but his girlfriend had her hair so he was just making things worse. They ended up driving away, and that's when the girl called cops. She got lucky and had witnesses that stayed, and got the license plate number. Blake told the girl next time she needs to keep her doors locked, she said she thought it was. she was screwed she had her windows down, and her doors unlocked.

I have another road rage story, this one happened about two weeks ago and I never wrote about it. I can't remember what caused the guy to get mad but he did and he ended up showing his gun. They lady got his license plate number and called the cops. Blake was actually pulling into the movie theater when the guy was leaving too. They got the report from the lady, then went to the guys house and took his gun, and his CHL license. He's going to have a big fine, and he wont get his gun back for while...I think.  I was suppose to be watching a movie that nigh too but something happened so I wasn't there.

People are crazy, so don't make anyone mad while driving. You will either get beat up or threatened with a gun. We do live in Texas after all, so anyone can own a gun.

Blake got a burglary call the other day from a lady who thought her son had broke into her home. She had been on vacation, when she came home she noticed a picture hanging on the wall, that normally wasn't there. She went to take the picture off the wall and behind it was a hole. The person who broke in had cut a hole through the brick and Sheetrock, stuck their arm in and unlocked the door. She told Blake she thought it was her son because the only things missing where his xbox, and clothes. She said that she kicked out her son about two weeks ago. Once Blake found that out he knew he couldn't do anything. Even if your kick your kids out they still legally live there. You have to treat them like rent tenants. They must be evicted. **remember this just in case you ever want to kick someone out of your home** Since the kid wasn't evicted he couldn't get in trouble for what he did, since he just damaged the home he lived in. stupid I know. Since Blake couldn't do anything he said "we don't have to tell him he can't get in trouble so I can scare him, and see if he will admit to doing this". Yes, even sweet Blake can and will lie.  The mom called her son and had him come over. While they were waiting Blake went out back and picked up the hammer and screwdriver the boy used to make the hole, and put it in a bad. The guy got there and Blake began to question him. He asked him if he knew why someone would break in and only take his stuff. The kid didn't admit to it at first, until Blake pulled out the bad with the tools. Blake told him that the detectives are going to run the fingerprints and if they have his fingerprints on them they will be back to arrest him. he said the kids started tearing up and said "well I have tired to get my mom to let me in so I can get my things, and she wouldn't let me". Ha ha he admitted to it! Stupid kid it would have been easier to just break a window, now he has to help pay to fix the hole and that's going to be expensive.

Blake didn't take this call but it was hilarious so I have to share! A guy has been going around and robbing nail salons. He walked into one on Beach and basswood with a gun. Since the people that work there don't speak and understand English very well, the guy thought he was only robbing him. He pulled out his wallet and handed the guy 8 bucks, and the other lady only had 1 dollar. The guy robbing them said "this is all you have, S***", and walked out shaking his head. So they had more money he just didn't get away with it. The guy did rob another one and got away with 1000 dollars. He has hit up several, not sure if he was ever caught.

Potty training

First off kudos to the parents who have already potty trained a child. I gave it a go last week with Parker and its hard work. I did start knowing he may not be 100% ready, but he was showing a few signs and decided to see what he was capable of, after all he is a very bright boy!

  

 Day 1: It actually wasn't that bad. I only had him wear a big shirt for the first two days so I could get him to the potty quickly. He is familiar with me putting him on the potty since he gets to enjoy lots of naked time. It was the only thing that really helped when he got diaper rashes. I found a neat app on my phone with a timer that goes off every 10,20, 30 minutes or longer. It was a life saver! I made sure he was drinking a lot that day too. I wanted him to get lots of practice. I am a pro at wiping up pee now too! The day went as I expected, he would start to pee I would hurry and sit him on the potty, and then i would do a cheer for him when he was done! I tried giving him sticker every time he went potty or even sat on the potty for me, but each time he just threw a fit because I only gave him one and only one. I then switched to teddy Gram's or cheese crackers, and the same things happened he just wanted to eat them all. I think I would have been better off just cheering him on. He actually went and sat on the potty by himself and went pee....only once but that's all it took to make this mom really happy. Day one success!

Day two was about the same as day one. He did go poop in the potty...yay! He likes to hide when he poops and since I was watching him he couldn't really hide. By the afternoon I never wanted to see pee again! Day two it seemed like the newness of sitting on the potty and getting a treat was old news to Parker. I then turned to tv to get him to sit on the potty longer. The past month Parker has really shown a lot of interest in the tv, even if its not cartoons...not good. Anyway to get him to sit on the potty longer I would turn on Elmo's world on netflix and he would sit their forever. He was glued to the tv, so the tv could and couldn't be used as reward.

Day three was 4th of July! I let him run around in big boy underwear and just watched him very closely. As long as i got him on the potty every 20-30 minutes he had no accidents. I did take him outside and he had an accident and didn't care that he was wet...great! We went out to dinner that night with some friends and I was playing with fire by putting him in big boy underwear. It's true, I am crazy! Well guess what...he didn't have an accident. He even went pee for us on the big potty at the restaurant! yay Parker.

 Day 4 and 5 I was more relaxed and he had more accidents but I wanted to see if anything was sticking. He isn't potty trained yet but he is much more aware of whats going on, and I can just look at him and know when hes going potty. Blake is amazed that I can tell when Parker is getting ready to go potty or is. Must be a mom thing! Parker may not be running up to me saying he has to go potty yet but I can sit him on the potty and he actually tries to go or does. he has even come and told me he went potty, which means he knows he had an accident. Over all I didn't reach my main goal but I did get things going in the right direction and maybe even sped things up...hopefully! The way I look at is he is still young and has plenty of time!

Happy Fourth of July

We usually never go out for fireworks but for some odd reason this year we did. Never again! We did enjoy ourselves though.

We had a great time at dinner with The Naylors! The boys actually had a blast. They gave us a big booth, and they thought it was their very own person playground.

Parker was actually having so much fun that after we got done eating he didn't want to leave. His protest to leaving was sitting down in his booster seat like this(backwards) and saying "NO"

Before we headed over to see fireworks we thought it would be a good idea to take the boys to the park. Well at least we thought we were taking them to a park. It was the closest park to us and it looked like it use to be a big playground, but instead it was two puny slides, a swing set, and a tire swing. They boys still had fun.

 

We ended up having about 30-40 minutes to kill before the fireworks started, and we spent that time chasing Parker around. Wyatt got tired and grumpy so they had to go home so he could sleep.

Parker sat through the full 20 minutes of fireworks and the sound didn't bother him at all. Even during the firework show he would stop to point at the planes in the sky.
