Blake finally got in his first foot chase. It was an exciting but LONG night.
I should have sat down and posted this blog as soon as he told me the story so I wouldn't forget.
On April 22 around 5 or 6 Blake answered a call, it was to make a report because their house had been broken into. While he was on that call another call came in saying someone else's house had been broken into and they guys left out a back window. The call was just two streets away so Blake and Soria jumped in the car and headed that direction. they got to the street and a guy came out yelling and pointing to a car saying "that's them, those are the guys who broke into my house". They guys were trying to get away, Soria turned the car around drove through someone's yard and proceeded to pull the car over. The car pulls over to stop and the doors fly open and two guys jump out and start running. Blake and soria pick a guy and go. As they were pulling up Blake was keying up to read off location and stuff to dispatcher, when the guys started to run Blake had to say close the channel we got runners. Soria started to run after his guy but then noticed that the driver was still in the car so he stayed and arrested him good thing he stopped and got the driver because he had a car full of stolen stuff. Blake's guy kept running and he said he was yelling "stop police" just like they taught him in the academy. He said it was like training in the academy all over again. He jumped two fences chasing this guy, and actually broke one in the process. His baton extended while he was running and when he tried to shrink it back down he dropped it in someone's backyard. He had to go back and get it. He eventually caught the guy when he rounded a corner and hid behind a tree. Since the guy turned the corner Blake had his gun out and once he saw him he grabbed him and handcuffed him. Blake said while he was chasing the guy he kept asking "why are you chasing me"...well idiot you must have done something wrong if you are running. once he got him handcuffed all the other officers show up. Blake said he was exhausted! he was just glad the guy running from him was just as tired or he probably would have fought. So I am thankful there was no fight. There ended up being 4 or 5 guys breaking into peoples homes around 4-5 and they stole a lot of stuff. Most of the stuff was recovered but the stuff that wasn't they had to take to the evidence room and tag each item. He said they stole a coke bottle full of change and they had to count it out penny by penny. They had so many people involved as the victims that the report took forever. so between the report and tagging all the evidence he didn't get off until 6 am. He ended up working that call all night and had 6.5 hours of over time.
Way to go Blake and catch the bad guys! Now when we tell Parker that he's going to work to get the bad guys he really did!
