We had a wonderful time in Glen Rose, TX camping at Dinosaur Valley State Park. We stayed there Wednesday, and Thursday night. The weather was perfect. It did get a little warm in the late afternoon, but nothing a cold bottle of water couldn't cure.
Parker absolutely loved it! The outdoors agree with him, and I knew it would. As soon as we got there he started exploring! He loved that there were rocks everywhere for him to pick up and throw. His Aunt Karen and Deanna also brought him a shovel and pail so he could dig. He would also venture out into the woods and play in the trees. He liked pulling the leafs off the branches. strange child of mine is easily amused! It didn't take him long to find the ice chest, once he found it we couldn't keep him away from it. The entire camping trip he had a cup and a mouth full of ice! He was already dirty because we were surrounded by dirt and rocks, add a little ice water and you get a really dirty boy. I am pretty sure he ate just as much dirt as ice. Gross, I know but that's a boy for you. OR that's Parker for you!
He had a blast playing with the dogs, well really just Sophie! She was the only one who like Parker as much as he like her! He has so much fun playing ball with her. Buddy and Daisy only liked Parker if he had food. Several times he would turn his head the other way and one of them would snatch his food! They were in dog heaven!
Wednesday we spent the day setting up, lots to do so it took up most of the day. When your in great company its not so bad!
Our lot was actually right by a playground so we walked over and played so Karen and Deanna could get things done that didn't need little hands helping. He loved the slide, and the monkey bars. He was still to small for them but he was determined to climb them.
we put peanut butter on a pinecone with bird seed. I don't think we saw one bird eat off it. O'well it was fun making it!
My favorite part about camping is the food! Everything taste so much better when your outdoors! One night we had burgers and hot dogs, the next we had ribs! My mouth is watering just writing this!Parker even had fun eating! He loved the ribs, which he wont eat at home...stinker! He was a bbq sauce mess!
Our favorite part of this camping trip was going to Fossil Rim. It is an outdoor zoo and you get to feed the animals. We all piled into one car and took off for a 3 hour animal adventure! I think us four
adults has as much fun as Parker...maybe even more!
The Ostrich was the first animal we drove up to. We knew we couldn't hand feed them so we threw it out for them. One came up to the window and I didn't have anymore food. It stared at me and cocked its head, it looked like it was about to stick his head in the window. Karen must have thought I was still feeding it but I wasn't. So as it was staring me down, and acting like it was about to peck at my face, you hear me saying GO, GO, GO KAREN GO DRIVE. It was hilarious, and everyone was cracking up! If your doing anything and you start laughing that hard within 5 minutes of being there you know your going to have a blast! We feed dear, moose, wild turkeys, zebras, and who knows what else. the one animal that didn't come to our car were the giraffes. We were so sad, we had all the windows down and sun roof open.
crazy ostrich
He loved throwing the food
burry pic but I love Blake's face!
Half way through they have a gift shop, cafe and petting zoo. We ate a good little lunch and took Parker to the petting zoo. They had goats walking around everywhere. Before we walked in Parker took off before us and ran in, he took one look at the goat and ran out before we even made it into the barn. LOL it was so funny! He eventually warmed up and almost touched it.
We had so much fun feeding the animals. We had moose slober all over us..gross!
You have to try the hats on at the souvenir shops
On Friday before we headed home he played at the park again and we went to Dinosaur World. They have life size dinosaurs. He wasn't crazy about, I think he will like it more when he gets older. He did see small dinosaurs and say "its a baby".
He really liked feeding the fish at Dinosaur World.
Dinosaur World had a playground...he just had to play on it!
We had such a great time camping with our favorite Aunts! I can't wait until our next camping trip, time to start planning! Where shall we go next?!
Parker's camping mini-session!
He may be a handful but he sure is cute! Love my sweet family!
